Vimeo: import your uploads at original quality

Connect Vimeo to import your own uploads at original quality. Adding, using, troubleshooting, and removing the app.

The Vimeo connector pulls your uploads straight from Vimeo into Framesite, so talks, launches, and customer stories become source-backed pages without a download-and-reupload dance. The connection is read only: Framesite lists your uploads and copies only the ones you choose.

What you need

A Vimeo account, and an admin role in your Framesite workspace to connect it. To pull the original source file you uploaded, that Vimeo account needs a paid tier (Starter, Standard, Advanced, Pro, or higher), because Vimeo only returns the uploaded master on paid plans. A free Vimeo account still connects and imports, but it falls back to the public page URL rather than the original file.

Adding the app

  1. Open Import in your workspace

Sign in to Framesite and open the Import view. The Vimeo card sits with the other video sources. You need an admin role in the workspace to connect accounts.

  2. Click Connect

You are sent to Vimeo's own sign-in and consent screen. It lists exactly what Framesite asks for: read access to your videos and basic profile. Framesite never sees your Vimeo password.

    In Framesite

    3. Vimeo
Vimeo connected-library card in Framesite Import
Vimeo appears in Import under Connected libraries, where you browse and choose uploads.
  3. Approve and return

After you approve, Vimeo sends you back to Framesite and the card shows Connected with your account name. The access token is stored encrypted and used only on our servers.

Using the app

Once connected, the Vimeo card lists your uploads, newest first. Tick the videos you want and add them to the import queue. Before anything runs, Framesite shows what the run produces and how it draws from your current allowance. Each import pulls the source-quality original you uploaded, or the largest progressive MP4 Vimeo offers, so processing starts from the real source, not a player re-encode.

Processing produces a transcript tied to exact timestamps, chapters, verbatim quotes, claims marked by how well they are sourced, and named speakers. Nothing publishes without your review and approval.

Troubleshooting

  • The connect button says denied. Connecting is limited to workspace admins. Ask a workspace admin to connect, or to make you an admin.
  • Imports pull the page URL, not the original file. Pulling the uploaded master needs a paid Vimeo tier. On a free account, Vimeo does not expose the original file, so Framesite falls back to the public page URL. Upgrade the Vimeo account to import the source file.
  • The connection shows needs attention. This means the Vimeo access token was revoked, for example from the Vimeo side. Click Connect again to reauthorize; your imported videos are unaffected.

Removing the app

Open the Vimeo card in Framesite and click Disconnect. This deletes the stored access token from our systems immediately and stops all further access. You can also remove Framesite from your Vimeo account settings on the Vimeo side; Vimeo does not send a deauthorization webhook, so disconnecting in Framesite is the step that ends our access.

After removal, Framesite can no longer see your Vimeo account or uploads. Videos you already imported remain in your Framesite library, because they are your workspace content; delete them there whenever you want, or ask us to. Reconnecting later starts a fresh authorization from the beginning.

Common questions

Which Vimeo videos can Framesite see?
The uploads on the connected Vimeo account, read only. Pulling the original source file you uploaded needs a paid Vimeo tier (Starter, Standard, Advanced, Pro, or higher) so Vimeo returns the uploaded master. A free account still connects, but Framesite falls back to the public page URL instead of the original file.
Does Framesite change anything in my Vimeo account?
No. The connection is read only. Framesite lists your uploads and copies the ones you pick. It never edits, deletes, or adds anything in Vimeo.
What happens to my data if I remove the app?
When you click Disconnect on the Vimeo card, we delete the stored access token immediately and stop all further access. Videos you already imported stay in your Framesite workspace, because they are your content there; you can delete them from your library at any time.
Is my Vimeo content used to train AI models?
No. Content from connected services, including Vimeo, is never used to train any machine learning model, ours or a provider's. It is processed only to build the transcripts and pages you asked for.
